The Melbourne-based Brockman-Coleman Duo brings the shared experience of long, distinguished artistic careers to their exploration of the astonishing richness of the piano and cello repertoire, from well-known masterpieces to rarely heard gems. Miranda and Donna formed their artistic collaboration in part in homage to the late Nelson Cooke, who was one of Miranda’s teachers and a close friend and colleague of Donna’s.
Miranda Brockman is a cellist with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and has performed as both principal cellist and soloist with many Australian orchestras. She was a founding member of award-winning Trio Anima Mundi, and she now mentors young Melbourne cellists at Monash University and for Melbourne Youth Music. Miranda has a strong commitment to regional audiences bringing chamber music to rural areas over many years.
Donna Coleman is internationally renowned for her performances and recordings of American and twentieth century music, particularly the music of Charles Ives. Her OutBach® project explores relationships between the gamut of diverse musical styles from Indigenous to Bach to Ragtime to works composed yesterday. A dual US-AU citizen, she joined the Victorian College of the Arts as Head of Keyboard subsequent to her first visit to Australia in 1992 as a Fulbright Senior Scholar. In 2015 Donna created The Concord Trio in the USA, dedicated to the music of American composers. She is an Honorary Senior Fellow of the University of Melbourne.
